Chromite: The only mineral ore of chromium metal

What is Chromite? Chromite is an oxide mineral composed of chromium, iron, and oxygen (FeCr 2 O 4).It is dark gray to black in color with a metallic to submetallic luster and a high specific gravity. It occurs in basic and ultrabasic igneous rocks and in the metamorphic and sedimentary rocks that are produced when chromite-bearing rocks are altered by heat or weathering.

Chromite Beneficiation Process

Before it is fed to the 4'x 8′ Peripheral Discharge Rod Mill, the minus ¼" chrome ore is removed from the grinding circuit by means of a 4'x 12′ Dillon Vibrating Screen. This minus ¼" product is then ready for concentration in the Mineral Jigs. The Vibrating Screen oversize is ground in the Steel Head Rod Mill.
